EVENT OVERVIEW

The travel industry has invested heavily in sustainable products, policies and reporting frameworks. Yet one important question remains largely unanswered: what role does traveller behaviour play in achieving sustainability goals?

Earlier this year, ABTA launched the Intentional Traveller Behaviour (ITB) Project to establish a global baseline of business traveller habits and better understand the everyday behaviours that may contribute to unnecessary waste, increased costs and environmental impact.

Join us for an update on the journey so far as we share participation trends, project milestones, industry support and early insights emerging from the research. We will also explore how measuring this missing sustainability link fits into the broader ESG conversation and why organisations may need to look beyond supplier selection and policy compliance if they want to achieve meaningful sustainability outcomes.

Whether you are a Travel Buyer, TMC, Supplier or Sustainability professional, this session will provide an opportunity to understand how the project is evolving, what we are learning, and where the research will go next.

Topics Include

  • An update on the Intentional Traveller Behaviour Project and progress to date
  • The organisations, industry partners and sponsors helping drive the initiative forward
  • Participation trends and global engagement across regions and sectors
  • Early findings and emerging themes from survey responses
  • Why traveller behaviour may be the missing link in many sustainability strategies
  • The role of Intentional Traveller Behaviour within broader ESG objectives
  • Next steps, including the development of the industry whitepaper
  • Exploring the psychology behind wasteful travel behaviours
  • How the industry can move from measurement to meaningful behaviour change
  • Opportunities for organisations to become involved in the next phase of the project
